What have I gotten myself into here?!? JFC...this game seems to be WAAAY more complex than it needs to be. I'm playing it in hopes that all these things will start making sense. Unfortunately, never having played any other games in the series, I'm really fumbling my way through it. I don't even know where to begin here!
It's your standard Japanese SRPG game...similar in gameplay to, say, Fire Emblem or XCOM; i.e. moving your "troops" around a board killing enemies before they kill you.
But, the game systems they have here are plenty...and confusing as HELL for the uninitiated to the series!! The concept/benefits to "Innocents" completely escapes me. The management of your parties gear (weapons and armor) seems far more cumbersome than it needs to be. And then throwing in these Skills and Evilities? JFC...my head is spinning.
If anyone can provide some insights to this series, I would greatly appreciate any guidance!
The gameplay itself has some interesting mechanics so far, so I'm definitely staying engaged in that respect. But, I can't help but feel that I'm not taking full advantage of some of these other aspects (Innocents, Skills, Evilities, etc). As a result, I feel like it's taking me much longer to get through some of the battles than it should be. Hopefully, I'll get more proficient though, and things will start falling into place.
