I am a beauty industry professional and I am just fed up with not being able to find a properly run spa to work in. The last 2 have been so stressful.
No receptionist,
Owner is not around to take care of running the place
Commissioned employees (not paid to be there, only make money from services) are expected to cover the front desk, return calls, stay after for long periods of time cleaning.
Don't get me wrong, I totally believe you should always clean up after yourself but there is a lot of other work that needs to be done (tons of laundry, vacuum, bathrooms, dusting, stocking and rotating products, checking and returning messages, scheduling, product ordering etc etc etc that needs to be done by either the owner or someone who is PAID to do all this stuff!
And the lack of a receptionist is just asinine. This forces all of us to run around like headless chickens trying to check out our clients while the next client is standing there waiting for her appointment but we still have to go clean our room before taking her back but cannot because now the phone is ringing off the hook...what a mess!!! TOTALLY takes away from the "relaxing spa atmosphere"!!
What is it with privately owned spas in this area trying to cut corners by refusing to hire full time front desk coverage?? THIS DOES NOT WORK!
All I want is to come to work in a relaxing spa, take my clients back on time, provide a great experience, then clean up after myself and leave. Not having to stay after for an hour being "the maid" and calling back all of the missed calls that happened while the phone was ringing off the hook all day with no one to answer it.
So frustrating!!!
Are there any good, properly run spas here anymore???
